inch by inch, row by row
Small things have been making me happy these days:: The weekend was mild and, dare I say it, springlike (I'm ignoring the fact that it's been -30 with the wind chill since then). Getting a glimpse of the lunar eclipse on Saturday. Hearing Brent Bambury guest hosting The Current yesterday (am I the only on who misses Midday? Once a week is not enough). Finding out that I'm going to get money back on my tax return. Finding this cookbook at an amazing price at a local bookstore(I couldn't resist it -- sushi stuffed mushrooms? mango cranberry chutney? strawberry chocolate quesadillas? oh my).
In an attempt to calm my often agitated brain, I've been trying to simplify: deleting old, long forgotten, emails; finishing projects that have been on the needles forever; reducing my Bloglines feeds; making a list and sticking to it. Call it intellectual spring cleaning, if you will.
Things are still quite messy, however:
Promptly after finishing my scarf, I decided that maybe I needed a new pair of mitts to match. While I would love pretty , detailed, or fun mitts, I needed quick. And easy. And cheap. And ideally something that would be good for outdoor photography. So I got some Briggs and Little and started these convertible mittens. I'm making lots of modifications because, well, I don't have man sized hands.
And my bloglines feeds? Before I started reducing I had 350+ subscriptions, which often amounted to 500+ feeds a day. There is no way that I can read that many feeds everyday, even in my current state of unemployment. So, I'm being ruthless (or at least that's what I'm telling myself). I've managed to cut it down to 327 subscriptions so far. My goal is to have less than 250, but as soon as I cut one, I seem to add another. Find a blog that looks interesting but don't have time to read? Why, I'll add to bloglines. Not a good idea. Just like I can't possibly ever read all of the books that I'd like, I'm never going to be able to keep up on every interesting blog. 15 food blogs that have recipes that have recipes that I want to make someday. 20+ craft/design blogs that I've added just for pictures/inspiration. And the list goes on and on. So, I'm taking the time to find the feeds that I really like and really read. And for the feeds that get cut? I like you, I really do. It's not you, it's me.
Ack, this is just a lot of rambling today. No pictures, nothing finished. Waiting (anxiously) for Sunday, getting to see M. Yay. Oh yeah, and my friends, too. I almost forgot (kidding).
Off to try and finish something. Anything, really. Where's that list...
