crunching the numbers
So, not counting today, there are fourteen days until Christmas. 14! And, like most knitters, I have a fairly substantial knitting list to tackle in those two weeks. Not crazy, but enough. Now, this is all totally optional, of course. I want to be knitting these things for loved ones. Overall, I'm a fairly selfish knitter, so I would not be knitting gifts if I wasn't feeling it.
Back to the number crunching.
There are 14 days until Christmas. I have to work 12 of those 14 days. Eek. And yet I don't feel a whole lot of panic. Yet. Having started all but two of these projects might be making me a little cocky, no? And they're all, with the exception of one, quite small items.
Here's my list:
Small item #1: 1/2 complete.
Small item #2: 1/2 complete.
Small item #3: 2/3 complete.
Small item #4: not yet started.
Small item #5: not yet started.
Larger item #1: 1/3 complete.
I'm not a remarkably quick knitter, but here's the breakdown. I'll likely be able to knock small item #1 off the list tonight. Small items #2 & 3 don't need to be complete until after Christmas, since I won't see the recipient until then. Small items #4 & 5 are somewhat optional. The recipients both know that they will be receiving these items, but I'd like to have them completed nonetheless. Larger item #1 worries me a bit. I don't doubt that I'll be able to finish it so much as whether it's the right thing. Seeing as I'm 1/3 of the way through, I think I should take a deep breath and keep going.
So six items, total. This is totally doable, right? I crossed a few household chores off of my list today, so that clears much of my free time for the knitting. Two full days plus mornings and evenings of twelve others.
I'm on it.
And then there's the rest of the shopping.
