on the road again

when i was a kid, i had this little keyboard that i got for a gift. with the keyboard i also got a small songbook, meant to teach one how to play keyboard. the songbook came with stickers to apply to the keys to help the aspiring keyboardist learn the notes and the music in the songbook had the letter names inside the notes on the staff to help speed up the process. the songbook was filled with standard ditties and themes from movies from the seventies and eighties. two of my favourite songs to play (badly) were danny boy and on the road again.

lately i've had 'on the road again' stuck in my head because it sort of feels like i haven't stopped travelling in the last couple of months. i'm not an especially good traveller and i've been on more planes and trains than i care to think about. and now, due to circumstances beyond my control, i'm getting ready to move again. my work permit expires in the middle of december and we've been unable to determine a set of circumstances that would allow me to stay here. so, until i figure out what to do next, shorty and i will be stopping with my mom for a bit.

that's as far as i've gotten in the details. i'm trying my best to get this work done, as i'm sure the next five weeks will be gone in a flash.

i've also been knitting away, but i still haven't finished the jaywalkers -- their progress has been slow due to some secret knitting for m's birthday this weekend (benefit no. 36 of having a stash -- it's a great resource when you're broke). i'm also working on wee knitted items for babies expected soon. it also hit me this week that any knitting that i think i'm going to get done for christmas needs to be planned and implemented now. perhaps foolishly, i'm working on finishing wips before starting anything new in an attempt to reduce holiday induced anxiety.

oh, and we didn't get a single trick or treater, so m and i have been eating all of the candy. mwahahaha.
