idling

i'm feeling frustrated these days. nothing seems to be going as planned. no catastrophes, but little things that are annoying and accumulate to make me a little crazier than normal. sometimes i feel like i spend a lot of time waiting. and with me, idleness leads to laziness and procrastination.

so... still no finished knits to show. i finished one of m's birthday socks, so i lamely wrapped one sock yesterday. i'm also nearly finished the jaywalkers. my samus sweater is waiting to be seamed, blocked, and i-corded. there are a handful of other projects in various states of incompletion that need i want to get out of the way before seriously starting christmas knitting. (i do already have two christmas knits out of the way, miraculously.)

in an uncharacteristic spurt of ambition, i spent a few hours raking and bagging leaves yesterday. eleven bags. and i still have more left (i ran out of bags).

what else.... oh, on thursday, m and i went to see Carlos Fuentes speak. the man is nearly eighty, but you wouldn't know it. he gave a wonderful lecture about mexican history and the country's future. often humourous and always insightful, senor fuentes is one of my favourite writers. he was followed by this group, which, had we known what we were getting ourselves into, we would have missed. not. impressed.

i guess that's enough rambling for now. i'm trying to create a schedule for myself for the next few weeks, which will hopefully mean tangible results. so maybe i'll be posting a bit more.
