back with another one of those sock blockin' beats

finally. i finally finished the jaywalkers that i started sometime early in the spring.

grumperina's jaywalker socks in opal silk (i've lost the ball band and don't remember more than that). like others have commented, these are a bit tight even on my relatively narrow foot. i think my high arches don't help. i knit the second sock a bit tighter than the first and could barely get it on my foot. only halfway into the second one did i find her instructions for making them bigger. oh well, i'm hoping the soak in the sink will stretch them out a bit.

it's overcast today, so the photos don't really reflect the colour that well. they're a bit brighter, really. they turned out a bit easter egg-y, but overall i'm pleased. i don't know that i'll be knitting them again, though. eighty-four stitches made them seem like they were taking forever. and for some reason the feet went much more quickly than the legs.

i've been eager to get these done, as they were eating up gift knitting time. i'm now concentrating on getting m's second birthday sock done and the other things i have on the needles. i thought christmas was forever away, but at the rate i'm going, nothing will be finished.
