sugar and socks

i can't believe that it's monday already. my time here is quickly drawing to a close. three weeks until shorty and i fly back to nova scotia. which means that i have three weeks to finish my work here, take shorty to the vet (hoping to avoid a repeat of the ulcer/throwing up blood trauma), pack a few things to, hopefully, have shipped to canada and spend some downtime with m. i've been alternating between moments where all of this seems possible and, increasingly, anxiety ridden moments where i can't imagine how i'll manage everything.

thankfully, i got this package in the mail on saturday:


some candy and chocolate from my mom (barley toys, mini eggs, cherry blasters, candy cane kisses and some pei chocolates and gummies). i'm trying to ration these, as i can't get most of them here. {sugar is my friend.}

i spent most of saturday watching college football and knitting. i managed to get the first of these christmas gift socks finished and cast on for the second this morning.


the first one knit up quickly and i'm hoping to get the second finished in the next few days during tv time. then it'll be all baby knitting all the time.
