in awe

I'm planning a proper post with lots of links to photography sites that I like and find useful, as well as some photographers' portfolios. But for now, I wanted to share a recent discovery. I'm not sure how I first clicked onto The New Breed of Documentary Photographers (perhaps it was a recommended feed in my feed reader?). At any rate, I'm glad to have discovered this site and I'm enjoying learning about some great photographers. (In the back of my head, I've fancied being -- among other things -- a documentary photographer or filmmaker. And I always love reading about how people end up being photographers.)

I wanted to share a recent post from The New Breed of Documentary Photographers that I can't get out of my mind. It's this image from Newsha Tavakolian. I find myself drawn to it -- it pops into my brain at the most random moments and I keep clicking back to have another look. You can see more of her work on her website. (I think my favourite is the Girl Power portfolio).
